20 is the number..

2day, i turn the magical 20, supposed to be the end of the teenage saga.. (Dint make much of a difference to me though.. ). 2day, i'm halfway thru the burdensome, boring, yet exciting course of Indian Engineering; not a big deal these days though; and yet aware of the fact that across many villages in the nation, girls my age or probably lesser, have turned home makers. Sigh. Around here, marriage is the ultimate form of settlement. And its supposedly the third person's perception of entry into adulthood. Sic.
In a world where change is the only permanent aspect, can settlement ever happen? "Yes", a whole hoard of people would echo around me. With marriage in mind. Sigh again. "I'm going to stay single". A statement such as this would evoke face expressions as if one were to go on a killing spree. As if one were to go jog on Mount Everest. Huh!
Weddings these days have become like a business contract. Lump some sums on the sprawling halls, grand display of ornaments, grander accessories and clothing, not to mention the food spread. The list can go on and on.. Its more like a couple of days to flaunt off your assets and possessions. Not to mention the bride's family, the ultimate shellers of most Indian weddings. And the dowry. Omg!
When will the world ever get of such notions, and when will individual perceptions be given values, and choice be openly accepted, then will we really live in the modern era.
P.S.: Sorry if the blog wasn't worth reading. :(
