How deep?

A colleague of mine had recently gone in for a ‘Hair Iron’. (??!!). God! All that I thought was ‘Iron’ was a term associated with setting right creases in cotton fabrics. And now, it is about doing that to your keratin-melanin strands. I am just hoping that God doesn’t end up weeping for this. Eye brow pruning is like the order of the day. I would be termed a misfit to those who are into it. A pair of short hairs to prevent sweat into your eyes are being tweezed and clipped and what not. Will this even matter when it comes what all one means as a person and what life means, at the outset? Why is there an obsession with looks? Does the human race need it? And a few of them call it ‘grooming’. This quest for that much ‘groomed’ look makes one at times end up like a plastic doll. A face that is the very index of human emotions ends up looking like a painting on the wall. And thanks to media, ‘stars’ are on a roll for their fake looks. They would do better business if they replaced the statues at Tussauds. 

Some people take immense pleasure in flaunting their ‘looks’. And some seriously have a problem in complimenting another person. Probably I am seeing more of this as I am amidst people who tend to be self obsessed and image conscious at a certain age; or because I am not like them. Life is a multi faceted four lettered word. It stands for the virtues and principles one upholds. And hopefully not for the iron and wash that goes into it.  I only hope there will be a change in mentality among such people, and they will start seeing the world with a better conception of things. And they say that beauty is skin deep. If people could give a second thought, there would be enough conservation of energy, time and money.
